Good morning.A long-awaited turning point has been reached in a high-profile local homicide investigation. Court documents confirm forty-two-year-old Preston Pierce has officially waived his extradition rights in North Carolina. Pierce was arrested last month and indicted on felony charges of kidnapping, concealment of a body, and first-degree murder in connection with the tragic twenty-twenty-two disappearance of Gretchen Fleming. Parkersburg police detectives will transport Pierce back to West Virginia at a later date.Meanwhile, a local emergency responder crash is under investigation. A Parkersburg fire truck rolled over at Pike Street and Fourteenth Avenue late Wednesday night while rushing to a call that turned out to be burnt food.
