Good morning,Kentucky State Police are asking for help finding a missing West Virginia woman. Authorities say Bariah Cooley of Summersville was last seen April 22 walking along U.S. 119 heading south toward Pikeville, Kentucky. She was reportedly wearing a Batman shirt and blue shorts at the time. Anyone with information is urged to contact Kentucky State Police at 606-433-7711.Meanwhile, the West Virginia State Police are expanding a program aimed at helping people struggling with addiction get into treatment faster. The “Angel Initiative” allows anyone battling substance use to walk into a State Police detachment and ask for help—no questions asked. Troopers then connect them with treatment resources. As part of the expansion, officers are receiving additional training and new tools, including QR codes linking people directly to support services. Officials say the goal is to remove barriers and get people into recovery before they end up in the criminal justice system.And new numbers from the Secretary of State’s office show a major shift in voter registration across West Virginia. More than 68-thousand voters have changed their party affiliation over the past two years. Data shows many moved from Democrat or unaffiliated to Republican, though officials say changes are happening in multiple directions. Since early 2024 alone, tens of thousands of voters have switched affiliations. State leaders say the trend reflects shifting political attitudes ahead of the upcoming primary election, with early in-person voting now getting underway.And West Virginia’s newest state park is putting a spotlight on outdoor adventure. Summersville Lake State Park—which opened in 2023—is the first in the state designed with rock climbing in mind. Located near New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, the park offers traditional climbing, scenic lake views, and even deep-water soloing, where climbers scale above the water without ropes.
